Toyota Australia welcomes Matthew Callachor as new CEO

Toyota Australia has announced Matthew Callachor as its new president and CEO this week, shortly after Lexus's local arm announced its new boss.Callachor, 56, has a 36-year career with Toyota, including stints in the US and Japan.

 For the last 18 months Callachor served as the company's local vice president, where he was responsible for sales, marketing, product planning, corporate services and finance divisions.

Prior to that, he was the first Australian executive to oversee a Lexus division in Japan, where he was named general manager of global Lexus planning - a position he held for three years from 2014.

Callachor played a leading role in developing the medium- and long-term strategies for the Lexus brand, including last year's launch of the "Experience Amazing" tagline.


"Callachor first joined Toyota Australia in 1982 as a marketing analyst.
